Correlation between Internal and External Egg Quality Indicators in the Early Phase of Hy-Line Brown Laying Hens

This study investigated correlations between egg quality indicators to identify external traits predict internal using non-destructive and convenient measurements. Thirteen indicators, including Haugh unit, albumen height, eggshell breaking strength, thickness, color (CIE L*, CIE a*, b*), reflectivity value, weight, length, width, shape index, yolk color, were investigated. A total of 180 brown eggs obtained from one 27-week-old flock Hy-line brown-laying hens raised in a cage system. Correlations evaluated Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r). The results showed strong unit L* reflectivity, weight a* index length (P<0.001). Moderate observed strength b*, width Eggshell was correlated with (P<0.01), height present significant other indicators. Thus, this suggests that colors based on reflectiveness the L*a*b* value can be used estimate thickness.
